How to qualify as a paraprofessional in Iowa
Iowa is unusual. Paraeducator certification here is optional in most settings and there is no state exam to take, so there is nothing for us to prepare you for. Here is what Iowa asks for instead.

Three ways to meet the requirement
Federal law gives Title I paraprofessionals three qualifying routes.
Two years of college
Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education.
An associate degree or higher
Hold an associate degree or above. Already earned it, and you are done.
Pass the assessment
Pass a formal state or local assessment. Iowa does not run one, so in practice paraeducators here qualify through college credit, a degree, or an approved certification program.
